Goa being under the rule of Portuguese for over 450yrs  has the influence of portuguese culture. Goa presents itself a different picture to the foreign visitor than the other parts of India Goa is famous for its excellent beaches,churches, temples, Besides the various celebration specially new year & carnival attracts a lot of tourist in Goa.There are a few historic world heritage sites such as Bom Jesus of Basilica churches & convents of Old Goa. There are many forts in Goa such as Tiracol, Chapora,Corjuem, Aguada, fort Gaspar Dias, & Cabo de Rama.

Goan cuisine consist of seafood, coconut milk, rice & local spices these are the main ingredients, the goan feni too is very famous specially the pork delicacies are also very popular among the tourist, the flea market and the night market not to forget which make it still more interesting and the night clubbing night makes the youngsters do alittle of activity work besides this there is a lot of exploring work to be done of various beaches and so on.

According to the 2011 census, Goa has a literacy rate of 87% with 90% males & 84% females most students in Goa complete their high school using English as their medium of Instruction.

The churches of Goa are popular for their massive structures,many architecture styles, colourful altars and green location on hillocks. the most important churches of historical interest are basilica of Bom jesus, which is the resting place of the relic of St. Francis Xavier, the patron saint of Goan catholics, the See Cathedral, which is perhaps the biggest church of Goa, the church of St.Cajetan and the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, Which also has an archaeological museum.

Besides these, there are other important churches too, they are the reis magos church, the panjim church dedicated to our lady of immaculate conception, St. Christopher’s Church of Thivim, St. Thomas church of Diwar, immaculate conception church of moira, mother of goa church of saligao, St.lawrence church of Sinquerim, Mae de Deus church of loutolim, St. Jerome or Milagres Church of Mapusa and the church at the Rachol Seminary.In fact every village/city in Goa has atleast one church and/or chapel.
